How does the inventory process work?

Our inventory teams will make a sweep through your buildings, and apply a bar-coded property tag to every fixed asset. Information such as location, room, description, manufacturer, model, and serial number will be recorded using state-of-the-art bar code data collection terminals.

The information recorded during the physical inventory is compiled into an inventory report for your records.

Asset Services also provides reconciliations of the physical inventory back to the fixed asset ledger as well as fair market valuations.

Asset Services’ inventory specialists are highly sensitive to the concerns of educators and students.  Asset Services takes pride in our ability to perform an inventory with no disruption to the educational process.

How long does it take?

Our inventory specialists are extremely accurate and efficient at performing inventories. Physical inventories by trained and experienced professionals are completed in a fraction of the time it would take an untrained person to complete.  Using bar-code technology and scanners reduces inventory time dramatically, compared to the "pen and paper" method. For example, our inventory specialists will complete an average sized elementary school in a few hours, and an average high school in a couple of days.

How much does it cost?

The price of services varies with the size of the facility, and your specific needs. As a ballpark figure, the cost to inventory an average elementary school (or equivalent sized building) is typically less than the cost of a laptop. We'll be glad to give you a hassle free estimate.
